Lack development, at least in the last 100 years. It's kind of like a random spot in the front range. They need daome sort of development/improvements to make them worth going too. Full review by W8401OPluked

If you are going to Denver start at the Four Mile Historic Post (2 hour time), then go Downtown to Colorado history museum. Visit Rocky Mountain National park, lots of trails there (full day+). Head towards Aspen through Independence Pass, stop at the top (12,095 feet Continental Divide) & visit Maroon Bells. The drive to and from is awesome with breathtaking views. Maroon Bells has several hiking trails. I wish I had spent longer there and got their earlier. Downtown Aspen has a must see gallery from Peter Lik (famous photographer). In Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is an awesome place & you can see Pike's Peak in the distance. Visit Manitou Springs for lunch. Always check the road conditions prior to any mountain visit. This will be a trip your family will not forget. My daughter lives there & this would be my suggestion. Gives you an all around experience of the beautiful mountain range. Enjoy!
